It's a new mc, and that armor is clearly different looking. Note he also doesn't seem to be a descendant from the Sanada clan. At least it's not mentioned in the trailer or profile (his name is seemingly just "Guy" with no kanji and he talks about humans in third person in the trailer).

The last cartoons popular with kids were Ladybug, Sofia the First and the horse show. 2 of 3 were CG. Also kids love CG in their movies. The problem was that KOTZ lack publicity and it was a bad show that appeal to no one. Granted, S2 got better but it was too little too late

None of those are anime though. It clearly just doesn't translate to the style/medium, when all 3d anime series flop in the West even when they're successes in Japan. See Toei's own Girls Band Cry for example. Which was really big in Japan, but has failed to turn out to have any impact worldwide.

The closest thing to working out was the Dragonball Super Hero movie, but that was riding on the peak of popularity of the Dragonball franchise, rather than attempting to increase it, and even so dropped in box office compared to Brolly.
