Cool, I can post this stuff now.

Now I feel like an idiot for thinking I could read it late like I always do.
man, like most big storytimes are done now
>>279627646Between this and the Jojo storytime ending, I'm gonna have so much more free time now.
>>279627630Don't worry, that's why OP made this thread in the first place. You can just reply to whatever posts you want to in this thread.
I've been thinking.
There's a page in the final volume in which Faceless/Jin mentions that at some point Masaru would've reached young adulthood and match Shirogane's physical age. Combined with Faceless original 2 years of fights plan that was forgotten when the final act started and the editor forcing him to speed up the series, it makes me think that Fuhita originally intended for Masaru to grow up and fall in love properly with Shirogane.
Jin says Masaru loves her, but even then I actually never saw it as romantic love, it felt more like a little brother trying to prove himself to his protective sister or puppy love at best. If Masaru had reached, say, 16 or 17, I could've see it as romantic love instead.
Also, Fujita probably planned an even longer arc in the village training with Guy.

>>279627371 (OP)you know it's really funny how late-stage Eren's character is really really close to Bai Jin, I truly think Yam read Karakuri Circus at some point and he just never mentioned it to anyone, he even used MulLuv as one of his references. I made a shitpost a few years ago when Final season 2nd part last movie aired

The other wants you to fuck Narumi.
You want to fuck Narumi.
>>279627715I wonder what else may have gotten cut. Narumi never mentioned what happened in the village to Shirogane. Maybe Yin's memories would become important later on? It seems weird to me that they never came up again. Narumi also mentioned that his left eye never changed colour, which really seemed like it would come up again later.
>>279622102I feel like this would have been expanded on too.
>>279622777Faceless didn't account for one thing.
By giving Masaru his memories, Masaru became a cuck and would take any path possible to avoid ending up with any variant of Francine. Consciously or unconsciously.

Anyone find a site the translations have been uploaded too since it got killed on Mangadex? Really want to introduce this series to some friends.
With this foreboding text back in vol 34, I actually thought the village was going to get blown up, but no turns out Masaru never went back to visit.

I thought the ending of Toriko was beautiful, but this honestly knocks it out of the park.
If I compare this to Ushio and Tora I thought that most of the earlier parts of that final arc were better, but the fact that Karakuri Circus was technically axed and how good this volume was, it's a little hard to say which arc I liked more. I loved the final chapter and the Curtain Call so much in this manga. I love happy endings like this.
>>279624283Damn, they didn't even let her put her pants back on. Had to pose in her panties.
I feel like no matter what Masaru having romantic feelings for Shirogane would always feel forced.
>>279623850Man, worm'd from the past. I feel like I'm living in a simulation.

>>279629686I'd imagine Sandro read Karakuri Circus and got all his inspiration for tongue sticking out from there.

>>279621957Houan is MY HERO.
Did anyone ever tell Eleonore that Shouji was her Dad and Lucille was her Grandma?
Thanks for the dump.
I loved it, even parts like the flashback namek, and the Kuroga village romcom. The ending didn't feel as rushed as I expected, and the finale in space was great. Although the contrivances to avoid the main trio meeting went absurd fast. And things like Eleonore going from worrying about Masaru 24/7 to not mentioning ever again. Also
>>279629292I'm surprised I liked Masaru so much as a protagonist. Punished Narumi I didn't care much about, but he didn't get that much time either.
George best character. Wish he'd made it.
Damn I missed the entire volume chapter dump. Shit must have archived fast.
Some of my thoughts now that the ride is over, one of the most original shonen I've read with a big focus on drama and characters. Straight into my favourites.
First volumes are an amazing introduction, it becomes apparent overall that the story formed in the mangaka's mind over time since there's a lot of retcons and incoherences but it's doesn't change the fact that vol 1-3 are an almost perfect hook. Overall I thought the first half of the manga up to the end of Sahara are outstanding in spite of this fight-heavy arc that aren't the manga's strong suit.
I'm more ambivalent towards the second half, we get the full story, Masaru gets a lot of development and some characters like Arlecchino and Pantalone get such a satisfying conclusion. On the other hand Narumi and Shirogane flip flop on their development or get stuck in place for several volumes and right at the end the conclusion feels really abrupt. A shame since I believe it could've been fixed with one or two more chapters of them interacting and less out-of-character behavior. I believe Vilma and Ashihana deserved a bit more, especially taking into account Masaru's harem Namek.
More broadly speaking, really loved the themes and imagery of history repeating itself, even if it is not that original it really permeates through the entire story. There's also some universal appeal, Masaru's story is about finding his own individuality instead of becoming another Bai Jin (the weird "you love Shirogane don't you?" hammered to him) like he was destined to be , Shirogane's is somewhat similar and Narumi is just about persevering in spite of all the shit you get handed in life (The Struggleโข as known from Berserk fans).
Amazing art in my opinion. Very stylized and unconventional so most people will either love it or hate it but I'm in the first camp. Also when Fujita tries he can really make some visually impressive martial-arts focused fights.
>>279627371 (OP)Fun fact, before getting EOS the final banner for the Karakuri Circus gacha game was Faceless of all people. What sadistic joke from the devs haha

>>279627659Kurumada was also the first one that came to my mind, but it makes sense to be Koichirou Yasunaga. >>279642947Masaru fears turning into bai 2.0 from watching Narumi fuck her
>>279643083Yeah I always headcannoned that Masaru intentionally avoided them for that reason. Just a bit more self-sacrifice bitterness to round it all off. At least he is still part of the Circus.
Good Fujita anime adaptation NEVER...not even Souboutei...what the fuck, Japan?
>>279643134To be fair, its got to be hard to know that they'll get 300 years of lovey-dovey time together and not be envious.
>>279624564As one of the voters for this story, thanks for delivering. It's nice to have the proper story with all the anime gaps covered even if some of those flashbacks were testing my patience.

>>279631923When it comes to Narumi's story I'd say that it's about the struggle for the first half of it, but the later half morphed into being about letting go. He needed to let go or his hate, his past, his guilt, his responsibilities and just do what he wants to instead of burning out. I think Lucille mentioned that he should focus on what he loves and not what he hates when she was leaving for the After Life.

Holy shit Fujitas romance though is pretty consistently lacking.
Main heroines are usually cute and all but they tend to have a single conversation with MC then at the end are kind of shoehorned in a romantic relationship
>>279655217I haven't read Souboutei yet, but yeah...... Romance in Fujita manga does seem to stay on the back burner until the end.

>>279656590Until we can all laugh with our Francine together again, anon.
>>279642278So odd considering the final chapter being about how anything could happen and how happy it is
The last 20 or so chapters were very good, I had Masaru fatigue at that point so whenever he showed up I rolled up my eyes and blitzed through the dialogue.
>>279669295How much longer /a/non?
Just wanted to say I started reading this during the Hack Days and only after 4chan came back I noticed these threads and I've been enjoying it a lot. I love Flame of Recca and Gash Bell so it's cool to see the work of their master. I'm at Volume 29 now and I like Masaru the most, but I like Narumi's story too. I think my only major complaint is that it feels like it's doing too much. I was surprised hearing the series actually got axed considering Fujita's notoriety and how long the series already was. Even so, I've been enjoying the hell out of this, and though I'll read a few things after I'm done, I look forward to reading Ushio and Tora.
>>279670631Tin the 2nd started the Storytime on the day 4chan came back as a celebration. All of Fujita's manga are good, so enjoy Ushio and Tora when you get to it.
