Ok, I hate Tri.
I thought that S2 was bad, but Tri is AWFUL! It's literally painful to watch. The original Digimon Adventure series really struck a unique balance—it was lighthearted and adventurous at its core, but wasn’t afraid to tackle deeper, more emotional themes like sacrifice, grief, and growing up. The pain and challenges the characters faced were always framed within a context of resilience, friendship, and hope. That made the emotional moments powerful because they weren’t overwhelming or constant—they were earned, and they meant something.
Tri, on the other hand, seems to think that maturity equals nonstop tragedy, angst, and drawn-out trauma. Instead of deepening the characters, it often reduces them to vessels for suffering—especially the Digimon. Meicoomon... Vgh... She suffers constantly, and when she finally dies, it doesn’t feel cathartic—it feels cruel. There’s no real sense of healing or triumph. I mean—there's not even an egg left as it was with Chocomon, she's just DEAD! And Meiko now has a life-long trauma from losing her closest friend...
Nah. Torturing Digimon is not my thing at all.
