Yeah, this. Whilst what's really going on does stump people and experienced exorcists, there are consistent patterns of behavior and counters. In all honesty, Hakumen was probably more in line with a 'traditional' cosmic horror than Souboutei, even if Souboutei admittedly is more upfront with how eldritch it is.

It's even smaller scale than Ushio & Tora in terms of the personal scope of the setting, since U&T at least took place across the wider area of Japan. Sure the overall consequences of Souboutei's conflict have much greater implications than either, but the entire cast adamantly work to prevent the worst case scenario so it all stays mostly confined to the area of the mansion rather than Hakumen devastating Japan (and implicitly having wiped out other civilizations) or Faceless trying to cuck the whole world out of life.
