I agree that JoJo is peak. Though for me, it's Phantom Blood. Part 2 feels like a non-sequitur. Sorry but the Pillar Men are fucking lame I don't care if they're "superior". Vampires are cooler. Part 3 is based because DIO. Everything after is just not as peak, but still enjoyable. Except parts 7 and beyond because multiverse reboot shit is gay.

Never liked how overpowered the Pillar Men are in terms of abilities. Vampires (or at least Dio and Straizo) had a lot of powers, but I don't think any of them were too powerful, except for maybe the freezing touch, but even that could be countered. It's also annoying hearing people gush over Joseph beating them as if it's some amazing feat, even though it just came down to his trickery and in the case of Kars, luck. I think Jonathan could hold his own against them just fine.

That isn't a high bar to clear, it honestly just shows how weak JoJo characters are generally. Diavolo is a fairly 2D villain(Risotto was honestly better, although still weak) and the only complex, 3D character is Bruno. Giorno is honestly the worst JoJo because his characterization is non-existent beyond his backstory and motivation

Part 5 has a strong lineup with the side villains having actual character of note. Giorno does have characterization, it isn't anything deep but he's an overly ambitious stoic young man that reads people like a book with a pretty well executed reason to be like that. He serves his role as a guiding hand well, if he was like Jolyne or Jotaro where he's clearly supposed to be the active force of the group rather than the inspirational guide, criticism would make more sense. But that's Bruno instead, Bruno's normally the face and leader, Giorno just influences people with his ambition. Simple and clean.

That's part of the problem. He's literally not designed as a protagonist who learns and grows throughout the story. If anything he's designed as a wise mentor figure. And even then he's less interesting than characters like Old Joseph, Part 4 Jotaro, or Gyro. He's the only Jojo who just flat-out doesn't change at all over the course of the story, despite the climax of the story being that he is "more worthy" to have a Requiem Stand than Polnareff, a man whose life was characterized by continual loss and self-sacrifice. The story goes out of its way to say he's the bestest protagonist when he doesn't even have any internal demons to conquer.

Static protagonists are a thing. Giorno does not need a massive character arc to be a good protagonist, that's retarded. If the story tried to put him in a role like Jolyne, you would be right to complain but it doesn't. Part 5 knows what Giorno is and uses him well. Jotaro does not change either, if becoming stronger counts as a change then the same shit applies to Giorno since he learns about his stand.

Polnareff got his body destroyed by Diavolo and got his mental decreased by years of hopeless isolation. Of course a young blooded ambitious young man like Giorno would have the means to somewhat control Requiem (even then it still acts independently of Giorno's will).

No shit Polnareff would be less worthy than Giorno. Polnareff loses himself to emotion constantly even at the end of Part 3, he does the same shit of running off on his own out of grief. Polnareff's a fantastic character but him being spiritually/mentally weaker than a Joestar objectively makes sense. Especially a character like Giorno who was alone and hardened in his life since he was 2 years old. He looked up to a gangster of all people.

Unique expository style, characters with bombastic personalities, striking shot compositions. I do like the substance, but the initial draw was the style. Watch the first episode to get a taste and if you like the presentation style, keep watching and/or read the manga for even more style. I wouldn't force myself to like it just because of memes.

I love part 5 for its overall aesthetics and vibes, I love the stands and the hyper bloody fights, some of my favorite musical references in this part too. It’s such a standout amongst the rest of the series, it brings an entirely different energy. It does feel like a standalone thing sometimes. 7>9>6>5>3>4>2>1>8
Part 8 is incoherent schizo slop that’s actually one of the worst manga ever published and the only good thing about part 4 is Kira. Fuck morioh.

No, it's actually worse because Jolyne isn't the driving force of the plot. She's just responding to bad shit going down, and she doesn't even directly defeat the main villain. Giorno is the one that spurs the entire plot of VA and the one to get the powerup and defeat Diavolo. And yet despite being the most important character in the plot, he's one of the least notable characters and quickly becomes irrelevant in theme. His ascension to boss is basically an afterthought. Static protagonists can still work when they have a fun cast of characters to play off of, like Jotaro (although Jotaro still changes significantly and is not the same person that he was at the start of SC by the end), but Giorno doesn't have any interesting relationships with any of the gang besides Buccellati.
