Nothing. Nothing makes me angrier than anime being as popular as it is today. I hate it. I hate it.

I hate how popular it became after 2013.

Why can't we go back to 2005?

There's a huge difference between the fans of the 2000s and the modern cultural imperialist

>pimple-faced lame teenagers
It really is just people who never grew a spine about the fact that most people hate anime internalising that as self-hatred and then projecting it into
>I like anime but not like THOSE losers
It's so tiresome. You can't love something with one foot in and the other out and then tell me whether or not I'm a real fan, when it really matters to me more than the fact people see it as weird. Sorry you had to learn that from a zoomer, then or now. This generational-gap ragebait has nothing to do with how subcultures are diluted or subverted, the only disconnect between old and new fans is a bitterness about growing old and refusing to pass the baton in the relay race to keep the culture alive.

2015 was the trouble year. I blame One Punch Man.

Anime and anime fandom died in the mid 2010's. You can easily trace and identify the degradation. People like to exaggerate and meme and say the jig was up in the 2000's but that's bull. It was still very much thriving well into the 10's. As for the cutoff point? I'd say 2015-2016. The only anime I've enjoyed in the 2020's so far is Nigewaka. Nothing else. I keep coming back here only out of sheer sunk cost fallacy habit and because I yearn for the old days. Anime is now mainstream and there is no going back. You either renounce the hobby altogether and go to greener pastures or you keep preserving for null in the ruins of your once-beloved passion as the mutt goblins spout monkeyspeak while circlejerking themselves to death.

Your choice, anon.

Exactly. 2008 (IPhone, OWS, Obama, DEI, Facebook etc.) was what laid the groundwork for the eventual full blown cultural war that broke out in 2016 and we've in living in that year ad infinitum. Look at the news. Trump, DEI, woke, the same dogshit from 10 years ago. Exactly. Obviously enough, this has massively impacted anime as well. Lycoris Recoil, Lazarus the most notable examples of Niips selling out to US-backed cultural destruction mandates.
