Anime and anime fandom died in the mid 2010's. You can easily trace and identify the degradation. People like to exaggerate and meme and say the jig was up in the 2000's but that's bull. It was still very much thriving well into the 10's. As for the cutoff point? I'd say 2015-2016. The only anime I've enjoyed in the 2020's so far is Nigewaka. Nothing else. I keep coming back here only out of sheer sunk cost fallacy habit and because I yearn for the old days. Anime is now mainstream and there is no going back. You either renounce the hobby altogether and go to greener pastures or you keep preserving for null in the ruins of your once-beloved passion as the mutt goblins spout monkeyspeak while circlejerking themselves to death.
