Imagine living a nice middle class life in modern times, and when you die, Heaven is medieval Japan, which includes rigid class structure and poverty & starvation for most and You may also be part of a mass genocide at any time by our military to "preserve the balance" between worlds. Also, Strong Soul reapers go to hell when they die regardless of their good deeds.

That was always one of my biggest issues with Bleach. For all of their technological advancements through Mayuri, and the seemingly just leadership of many of the captains, nobody was really trying to fix the societal problems with their power.
Like, you die and itโ€™s just the same class disparity shit all over again.
