The focus on Megumin was a mistake.

Though that might be true, it seems that Megumin is still the most popular of the konosuba waifus, and thus deserving of her on spin-off.
I mean, why else would they focus on her?

I used to like megumin but after rewatching I realized I liked aqua and darkness way more.

Would Aqua even have any other character to bounce off except Kazuma or perhaps the pad-using Eris?
Even if the Megumin spinoff was meh, it at least had other side characters like her little sister, her loser-rival Yunyun, those other chicks and the rest of the quirky village for Megumin to interact with.
