You know that if the manga doesn’t sell, it gets axed right? The editor’s job is to make the manga sell.

If it was popular for a reason, removing what made it good isn't going to sell as well with the people who cared before, especially if the changes are major ones.

Editors don't just do this for no reason. They want series they pick up to sell and not just be a waste of ink and paper.

For every time an editor ruined a manga, think of how many manga were saved by an editor.
There's a reason why so many hit mangaka are one hit wonders, and it's because their series only ever got off the ground from an editor's guidance.
Not gonna act like the mangaka doesn't do the majority of the work, but when their skill doesn't have guidance, you get Naruto with furries.
