Taiga is the true evolution of the Shana clone. The OG and most other copies had their entire lives revolving around the feeling they had for MC. Ryuuji is important for Taiga's development but he isn't the only relevant person or activity in her life. She has a best friend, she plays pranks and does silly stuff to pass the time at school, etc... Grumpy as she is she still behaves more or less like a relatively normal highschool girl (for late 2000s anime standards at least). It helps that the story gives decent spotlight to the other members of the main cast allowing Taiga to exist in the narrative without having to do something attention grabbing all the time.
