I liked the anime, except they seriously glossed over the war[spoiler/] because that by itself would have taken another two or three seasons. I have problems with characters just giving into a burdensome role that was forced upon them, especially when there is a way out or they're being guilt-tripped into doing it (or both, in this case), but you could say that about most Isekai. The story itself is top-tier, so I hope more people enjoy it.

Anon Twelve Kingdoms is more than 20 years old. The author retired, had kids, and started writing again. Whether it sells or not has almost no impact, the author is just having fun at this point.
