You sound like you want some more broadly appealing Shoujo or Josei works from authors who are established and don't need to sell out, preferably in periodicals that aren't at the broadest or most niche of audiences.

trust me. I really a lot of seinen and josei. and just a lot of manga in general. both paid and free online (though I only buy some of the mangas I truly appreciate). the "high quality" manga for short, no matter what category, is steadily getting smaller marketshare than ever. it's like you gotta stumble upon 20 manga to find some decent ones. and those decent ones might kick off really good but the direction of quality can change significantly after some time. I suspect this is more about trends and editor/publisher involvement.

the truly good side I can share with you is that, even though more published manga are more in the negative direction, at least many doujinshi are completely free of that. I guess that's what happens when the ideas are still raw, rather unpolished and minimally affected by economical restrictions.

I search manga on bato, mangadex, tons of twitter surfing, I occasionally would inquire scanlation teams or even mangaka about what they're doing. some of them are actually very friendly.
