It is mid, the manhwa was hard carried by the art style ,but once we got the anime it was pure slop from start to finish. The same people that say this is good are the same ones that would get distracted by jiggling keys.

Never watched the anime, but read the manwha before it. Some cool art for big battle scenes, but the fights themselves were mostly meh. MC grew in power too fast, and top hunters were useless, no different from usual isekai slop. No good romantic partners, and the only cool girl (the clumsy demon) got shelved till the sequel (maybe I will catch up to that someday). Completely butchered timetravel ending ruins whatever was left out of the series at that point.
I guess it's a power fantasy that really makes you feel oh so cool, but there is zero substance beyond that, and it doesn't even have the waifus like SAO (which are already underdeveloped there, but Solo Leveling got like NOTHING on that front other the aforementioned demon girl).
I don't particularly regret reading it, I've seen worse, but like 2/3 into the series I started skipping more and more just to get through it faster.

I liked it. I want to see the story continue. As a whole it didn't wow me and I feel like it took a few shortcuts to be great but season 2 was very good and I wouldn't make a season 3.

Animation, aesthetic identity, direction (though less so with DB after Toriyama's death), worldbuilding. It should clue you in when an anime's fandom feels like it almost completely appeared out of nowhere - not like tourists finding something that already exists, but like they were manufactured through social media hype to be the fandom of the new thing - that there is a qualitative difference between that and the fanbase that exists for another work in the same genre. The distinction isn't going to be very clear to people who just outright hate shounen, but Solo Levelling is clearly bad at doing what shounen does even if you don't fundamentally respect that there can be good shounen.
