Devil magic is plain and simple, but strong. Many could deal with Zagred just fine pre-grimoire, but he and Megicula had the advantage of self-healing. Megicula had more leeway with her magic because she possessed Acier and Vanica's soul, but Lucifero only has gravity and physical strength. Only a handful of characters can even stand within Lucifero's perpetual gravity, and even if they can, they also need speed or a spell to dodge him. I'd say he's pretty effective.
