I like it and can appreciate it being a shameless generic fun shonen, but I feel like it leans too much into being safely generic. Like you know what's going to end up happening whenever there's any suspense.

JJK is also safely generic.
The appeal.of black clover has always been more about the fast pace that makes you wonder if the mangaka is constantly on crack.

It's the lack of engaging conflicts after the main portion of the series is over.

Not that anon but JJK has nothing good about it.
BC was rather mid but still fun, I liked its characters much more. They just could have been put to better use. Like the tsundere romance that never goes anywhere.

I remember trying to watch this show years ago. It was the second episode where they're introducing the supporting cast and they keep going over their single defining traits over and over, I couldn't finish the episode.

I don't think that's a bad thing though or what's dragging down Black Clover. Fairy tail for example is overly safe and has no stakes but is dumb fun with fan service everywhere. There's lots of bad villains and side characters in early Black clover. It does eventually pick up the pace and gets some good arcs though.

BC is a joke but JJK doesn’t have any good characters. Yes they make nice faces and make funny banter but their actual personality isn’t developed you barely know anything substantial about them or how they act. It’s basically cute banter with no real purpose or meaning then fight generic demons
