This chapter and the last one are literally just an opportunity for the MC and his new sidekick to showboat with their powers and training, with a small side-dish of world-building. It's intentionally light-hearted and no-stakes because it would be stupid to set up intense emotional stakes for a fight that's meant to be easy and quickly over so they can move on to something more important.

Shonen manga need a hook, I don't see this one's being particularly special. There's no real appeal to it other than "beat the ice king", even Ice Head Gill had the mystery of Gill's dad even if it was shit. All the big manga have a significant hook, Kagurabachi has the mystery of the Hishaku and why Rokuhira was killed, Jujutsu had what the scope of Sukuna's fingers, Demon slayer had the question of how Tanjiro would cure Nezuko, even Red Hood had more of a hook with what the world of the setting was like (before it wasted it on an abysmal training arc that tanked the series).

While all Shonen battle manga can be summarised as "Beat the demon king" they all have other elements around them, Otr could have set up more mystery around Flygja, establish the motivation of the Ice king, or set up things they gotta collect.
