Ngl, I feel so bad for Yuno's mom. For her Yuno is her beloved child that she can finally see after years separated, but for Yuno she's just an unknown woman he has no real bond with. Either way, ultimately I think that Yuno getting his Spade gromoire is not just a power up. He now has a connection to the Spade kingdom, and from what I saw in this arc I think Asta will become the Wizard King while Yuno after being beaten will return to the Spade as its king. I will say that Black Clover has a lot of flaws, it doesn't reach the heights of the Big 3 or some other shonen, but it's definitely better than its contemporaries. I don't think any of the other big shonen that have come out since Naruto ended or around that point are as good overall as Black Clover. Not MHA, not Demon Slayer, not JJK, and not Chainsaw Man. Although some of these series are pretty different. It's flawed but it kept its quality for longer than any of these others at least. The fights especially feel like they have way more weight because important characters can actually die in them. Or sustain serious injuries that will never fully heal. I know the answer is "he saw the future, this plan will work if there is no unseeable variable", but I can't help but doubt the intelligence of this move, rather than simply teleport to all magic captain without ki, make them into paladins, same for Yuno and other similarly potentially dangerous characters, and then use those to curbstomp Asta and generally win, rather than using a much riskier plan.

As a first time reader, I thought it was a pretty good arc. Don't know if I like it better than the elf arc since that one was the conclusion of the first part of the story while the Spade arc is a stepping stone for the Lucius arc, but overall I think it has more memorable fights, especially in the final stretch that has Megicula, devil Zenon and Lucifero (even though it looked like some guys humilliating a mentally challenged person). Megicula in particular is my favorite fight so far in the manga.
Don't have much negative to say, I didn't really like Nacht much at the end, and this is something that irks me a bit, but for all the hype the devils got, they never get the chance to shine beyond a single fight. It happened with Zagred, with the twin devils, with Megicula and with Lucifero. Kinda wish some strong devil would have escaped and remained independent from Lucius, but at the end they all were plot devices, which is sad.

The thing with devils, I think, is that as a race they only care about their own supremacy and the overall pecking order. Not even Megicula hinted at anything above toying/experimenting with humans for fun, so if they escaped it wouldn't amount to much, other than a new fight.
