I'm still upset that this show committed a live suicide at the final stretch. All it had to do was wrap up the storyline it had spent 20 episodes establishing and it would have been a 9/10 show. Instead it became unwatchable.

It was building up to the kids getting ready to fight against the adults. But then aliens showed up and the kids team up with the adults against the aliens. All the crimes the adults did to destroy the world were erased thanks to the alien scapegoat. There was no catharsis for what they did to children.

They didn't even team up with the adults. The pilots never had to do something like reconcile with APE to fight a larger threat, because all of the 'real' adults got raptured offscreen with the aliens arrived. The 'adults' that were left were always just the disposible tools, barely older than the pilots themselves and similarly treated as trash by the greater society of immortal fucks.

Pilot revolution against APE, probably involving reaching out to and allying with the Klaxosaurs on the promise to stop using Magma energy (which the pilots, rejecting the immortality tech and the self-contained Plants cities, wouldn't need) was what the show was building up to. Aliens could have been hinted at as a twist, but never having more show up than the 3 specific founders of APE that kicked off all of this as a surprise final boss fight that only reveals itself AFTER the human threat has been dealt with. Maybe leave the door open to a sequel series or movie because the rest of the aliens are still out there and now they know that their espionage plan on Earth by subverting humanity to do their dirty work for them has collapsed. But certainly no more than that.

I would have forgotten about this show ages ago if you weird retards stopped spamming it every now and then. It's extremely forgettable. The only good thing about it are drawn mechs and that one flashback episode.
I literally hate every single character and the plot is abysmal.

I never watched this but I remember some Kirby fans getting butthurt because that girl started showing up instead of Kirby 64's final boss (pic related) when searching Zero Two on google lol

I still think the show could have been improved by 02 and Hiro growing continually more obsessed with each other and ostracized from the other main characters.

This show was carried hard by its cute girls, but it sucked ultimately. Cool premise but dropped the ball through the core of the Earth. At least we got Zero Two out of it.
