I checked out a clip out of morbid curiosity and honest to God it sounded like a youtube fan project. Everyone was too close to their mics and you could hear every breath and intonation, it was awful

Both the Japanese and English performances are good, but Bosch does a better job of portraying a character who's constantly changing his personality to manipulate people, and he also nails the dramatic speeches.
However, I am biased because I resent Fukuyama's portrayal of Watanuki in xxxHolic. I'm already lukewarm on the character, but Fukuyama just makes him more annoying, although Haberkorn also gives a shit performance.

I can't say that, but I do think it's very good. Like if you like Hellsing's, I'd say it's pretty similar, including people from different countries having appropriate accents. One thing I also think is neat, the Orte language is actually a fake language in the dub, while in the sub it's just reversed Japanese.
