They've broke a 40 year old tradition of Kenshiro only having brown hair in every anime adaptation (og anime, 2nd part, toei movie, 2003 ova, 20th anniversary ovas and movies, even that shitty parody series), to finally give him his more commonly seen in the manga's colored arts, blue hair. So they at least trying to be close to source material.

It seems they will start with the late Kenshiro design. I know it is to be artwise consistent, but I wished to see the early HNK designs slowly getting more buffed.

I try not to be an “originals are always best” fag but I cannot imagine at all a version of this which has the heart of the original. What production studio today has any concept of the masculine themes of strength, brothership, duty, and most importantly the male versions of love and sorrow? It’s not Dragonball v0.9. The original is quite badly animated and full of retarded filler though. It literally gets carried hard by the music which is amazing. But it was always vastly inferior to reading the manga.

Honestly, it probably won't evoque the same feeling without the original's music. Kinda like new Rurouni Kenshin.

Kenshiro and Raoh fighting while an idol sings about love in the background was peak kino even if they were just standing there and had very few frames of animation.

But that's fine, because the anime's feeling isn't necessarily what the manga was going for, and this is supposedly going to be faithful to the manga, specially with Hara and Buronson involved.

Assuming it is Ken's character design for the show. It does a decent job of emulating Tetsuo Hara's style and purple-ish color tones.
