Teacher here. They read manga and watch anime. Many of the students picked up Ichi the Witch when it came out and one student even recognized Mikoto Urabe/Mysterious Girlfriend X when she showed up while he was doing an internet search. Lots of Vocaloid fans. Majority Hispanic school.

Tacking on to this, Beastars, Seven Deadly Sins, Ghibli, Oshi No Ko, DanDaDan, Chainsaw Man, HunterxHunter, Jujutsu Kaisen, and MHA are names they would know. The pipeline tends to be student watches anime->student finishes anime->student starts reading manga so they don’t have to wait for more seasons. The school library has a giant section of manga for them.

Zoomers are the biggest weebs ever, since most western mainstream entertainment sucks shit.

Sure, you get hits like Squid Game, Severance, and The Bear every now and then, but for every one of those you get ten thousand shows that are woke poorly written dogshit that even the most normie woke foids refuse to watch.

Mainstream zoomer taste doesn't really go past battle shounen and trendy anime like Freiren, Apothecary Hotel, and Dress-Up Darling, but zoomers are still far more weeb than every other generation combined.

Modern anime is uniquely suited to zoomers:
1. Low fps animation results in flickering effect that attracts eye attention from zoomers
2. High pitched VAs can overcome background noise and attract zoomer ears
3. Neoteny-designed anime characters appeal to Zoomer childish minds
4. Short episodes often with useless fillers mean that zoomers can sporadically pay attention and still follow the story.

Do zoomers even have the attention span to watch a 25 minute episode? Hard mode, without even checking their phone.

Yes, but they call watching an episode uninterpreted a "marathon." It's honestly the damnedest dichotomy. The current generation is made up of people who are somehow both binge watchers but also can't actually focus on any one thing for longer than it takes me to write this.
