Why shouldn't I watch the first season for the first time in the 2006 broadcast order? Humans say not to, but I want to experience it as if I was there at the time with /a/.

You have to watch each episode split up into 3 parts on youtube in 360p hd to get the authentic 2006 experience

If you have NEVER watched the series before, you really have to watch the first season in the original broadcast order to get the same experience as kyoani director intended. It is one of those "you had to be there" things that only make sense in retrospect. First season in chronological order just doesn't have the same impact. Then, you have to watch the second season in regular chronological order, and the movie right after for the most emotional impact.
Anybody telling you otherwise is simply lying to you or themselves or is ignorant and misinformed or stupid.

So then do it, no one is stopping you. I also think it's the best way to watch it, even with season 2 and the movie already out.

Haruhi is a fucking cunt
And supposed character development in the LN doesn't matter when KyoAni always do whatever they want in their adaptations

While the broadcast order of the original 2006 episodes is really good at introducing you to the characters/setting while still being nonlinear and mysterious, if you want to watch the additional episodes they added in 2009 (which are important to view for context for the movieโ€”and, really, the whole reason you should be watching Haruhi should be in order to get the most out of the movie, which is actually pure 10/10) then you'll have to watch it in chronologically.
Unless you wanna watch it once in broadcast and then a second time chronologically. But I don't know to what degree your time is of value or not.

This exact quality and fansub and order is how most western fans watched it in 2006-2007. https://archive.org/details/the-melancholy-of-haruhi-suzumiya-2006/The+Melancholy+of+Haruhi+Suzumiya+-+02.avi

This is the right answer. only watch in broadcast order if you are willing to rewatch again in chronological order for second season and then immediately the movie. it's the only way to get the most out of this kyoani masterpiece (the movie).

Nice. I downloaded this off mediafire years ago. I found a nice hevc/opus version of the bd rips in 2006 order.

Broadcast order is correct to better-distribute the plot and "filler", rather than blowing through the former up-front, then leaving only the latter for the rest of the season.

I like the school festival being the end of the season, the ____kiss___ isn't as good as a climax

Pretty sure humans say you SHOULD watch in in broadcast order. That's how the series was made, and that's how people originally watched it.

you're right if you already know the story, then that is a better ending, heck, season 2 makes a lot of sense being chronological IF you already knew the story and the nature of Haruhi and all that has entailed. But for a first time going in blind viewer, or those of us who watched it as it was broadcast and fansubbed and distributed through IRC channels, the broadcast order is the correct vision of how it should be viewed.

It's not a 10th generation VHS copy with hardly synced subtitles with genlock failing due to bad sync in master, so I wouldn't complain.

The ONLY time it is worth watching in broadcast order is if it is your first ever exposure to the series with almost no prior knowledge of its story.
