Big event for August 3rd announced, we'll probably get a date for the next season of the anime that day

Vaguely remember this on 4kids

i watched the 1980s version on an internet archive and thought it was kino. everything up to the seven devil chojin arc is genuinely pretty funny and entertaining. it sort of loses its charm once kinnikuman and crew are trapped in the ring by the plot from seven devil chojins through the dream chojin tag arc. by the time we get to scramble for the throne it has fallen off, although it has some moments with soldier being a chad
are the modern versions any good? id expect to it be dogwater and completely pozzed

The first thing you need to know is that the new anime is not a remake, but an adaptation of the revival manga that's been running since 2011. There's a recap episode that goes over key moments from the original to get people up to speed, but it's mainly for people that have read the manga.

For the most part it's better animated than the original in every way Ramenman vs Marvellous aside and is less shy about blood and guts to boot. I don't like how washed out and bright it looks all the time and the music isn't as memorable.
