Quite possibly, but if you look for quantity of things that are watchable, rather than actually good things of diversity, you may prefer the 2010s.
There's probably also a question of whether the question applies to living through the decade, or going back to it after it ended.

It was really fun, you had the experimentation of digital animation plus studios getting more cash from committees and both big names from the 70s to 90s working together with those that would become big names on the 10s and 20s.
Also 2 cour anime was way more common, even original anime which you rarely see these days unless it's backed up by a big name studio.

Late 1980s was the zenith of otaku subculture. A gradual decline from there as otaku became mainstream and the soul was drained out of their subculture. The 00s was a last flowering of it, a glorious ending before it died.

Yes. It may not have been the best decade quality-wise, but otaku culture as a whole was at its peak. Everything became increasingly lame throughout the 2010s.

The worst aspects of otkau culture

Real otaku culture was the 80s and a bit into the 90s before the economy tanked in Japan, by 00s otaku had been commodified and you saw all these attempts to market otaku as a brand, shamelessly. Otaku might've felt like they had "arrived" in the 2000s but the euphoria would only last until they noticed all the truly niche aspects of "otaku" were being sandblasted away leaving a sterile, "safe" version of what it used to be.

You can find various polls that say otherwise. A lot of younger viewers don't give a shit about "old" anime and like >>280056843 said it's all about nostalgia for most. There are people who unironically think Frieren is the pinnacle of anime.

I really don't care enough to know to be honest. A lot of you a horribly jealous people who want the things that make me happy to become fucking homework as if it's my fault that digital culture and mass marketing trends have warped how people are exposed to series they've never heard of beyond recognition. I actually don't owe you anything and the only way to be consistent in how I act on that fact is to engage with anime and manga in a way that's completely seperate from you. I wanted "fandom", I wanted depth, I wanted belonging but you said fuck off for no real reason other than
>watches shounen, is a zoomer, isn't a lolicon
I don't fucking care anymore. Your culture is dead.

No, the 2010s were clearly better. Especially easy choice when you consider that for half of the 00s the sudden transition to using digipaint, digital lighting effects, etc. made most anime look like dogshit in retrospect.

ergo proxy is pure ass on everything besides capturing the specific strain of 2000s cyberpunk angst that led to shit like cybergoths existing, otherwise its a philosophical anime where its idea of philosophy is making characters randomly quote philosophers for no reason every 3 minutes, a character study based on boring tropes, an action shonen with horrible fight choreography and a cyberpunk anime that spends 80% of its runtime on a featureless frozen lake and caves instead of in the actual sci fi city
iggy was the only worthwhile character and he just incels out for no reason

Yes. The content and the fandom were excellent and a true safe haven for sensitive souls the world over. I'd say it lasted until, say, 2014. From the on, it just declined and declined with 2020 being the shifting point to true mainstream overkill.
