I've always liked it. People were whiny faggots for no reason at all.
It's a proper sequel that doesn't drag forever, shows how characters are doing, gives the next gen something to do without making them ultra overpowered, has a fun villain instead of 1847 unmemorable characters. And most importantly best girl.

I haven't read the manga but the anime was atrociously written and I dropped it at the end of the first season when they introduced the nth McGuffin with that pinwheel thing. Zero thought given to pacing, proper plotting and characterization, just endless shit thrown at the wall. The opposite of how Rumiko writes.
