This is just not even true for a start, but in terms of American perception, this also goes to Dragon Ball.

Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, and Ranma once again, all had significant black communities- in particular, a relatively famous newsboard post from like 1996 alleged that Ranma was a "black anime" and all posts relating to it were low quality shit.

Disliking filler for me was more from Rurouni Kenshin and One Piece. And at one point, Naruto and even One Piece weren't "neverending". You'd have to be pretty young for that to have been your idea of Naruto from the beginning.

I’ve never actually managed to sit through the whole series. Couldn’t even get past part 1. I don't know what it is it just feels really boring to me. Maybe its because Ive watched a lot of other shonen before it so it comes across as generic?

Im only gonna list the shonens I watched before Naruto. I watched Soul Eater, Fire force, Dragonball, dragonball z, hunter x hunter, Demon slayer, JJK, Part 1-4 jojo, some of bleach, blue exorcist, s1 of AoT, Black Clover, First few seasons of MHA, Fmab, Dororo. looking back I have terrible taste but fuck it, its my life.

Let me explain my brother gave me crap for wstching Baccano, Ghost in the Shell SAC, FMA, Code Geass, Soul Eater, Trigun, or any anime that wasn't Naruto on the computer because he waa jealous that I had a smartphone and he didn't.
Also HxH came out before Naruto. Like a large majority of things you see in Naruto are found there like Killua/Illumi and Sasuke/Itachi.
