For me it was the choreography. Writing or art aside that was the one thing gege was decent at. He made me remember what it felt like for the fight to have a flow panel to panel.

Theres nothing like it. People like to try and compare it to others but the way gege paces things and uses the fights as ground for characterization and developing the story is great. A lot of old battle shonen genuinely had terrible transitions between arcs which is why they all had to do that lazy boring big meal after every fight then building up to the next arc. Gege just throws you into it and by the time fight is over, it's on to the next plot point. People don't realize how much filler is drawn into manga to kill time. Especially with older series needing to reach the page count. That's why bleach, OP, DBZ and naruto are all shitty to me. You know where things are going in those series, on a week to week basis NOBODY knew wtf was going to happen in JJK. Which is why the leaks got the traction they did and JJK blew up.

I disagree on that people knew what would happen in DBZ. Majin Buu shows up in chapter 460 and the series ends at 519. 60 chapters and we get SS3, Buu turning "good" and killing Babadi, Ultimate Gohan's sword arc, Buu turning black, Buu killing 99% of the population, TWO different fusion techniques, more buu forms and a universal genkidama spurred by Mr. Satan.
The pace is actually insane, if Dragon Ball had leak culture in the same way JJK did Gohan would never be get Megumi posting times a thousand.
