When authors do this kind of thing, can be considered canon, easily, because the author made them.
Meaning that a lot of the fluffy, cute and innocent stuff that appeared in the manga can be considered a lie because of all the awful things that these characters did or happened to them
Well, the author needs money to live, and looks like people are willing to pay lots of money for lewd drawings of their "beloved" manga characters.
I don't even know why this series was successful, they are basically friend at best, then there is a timeskip and they are together, Bulma and Vegeta had more couple moments.
