Why are the layouts for many manga readers on official sites so shit? They all force the height of the image to the browser's dimensions, so it's awfully squished. Even websites with the option to scroll vertically force the image dimensions to the height, with no option to fit to width. I mean, this is Japanese, how they haven't figured out that the characters are almost unreadable is beyond me.
The only one I know of that fits to the width is the one I read Heterogeneous Linguistics on.

Web design after the 00s was total shit. It got especially bad in the last 10 years when everything became centered around phones.

Also: What sort of a stupid, normalfagoot newfag fuck reads online? You archive everything and read it locally with a decent program or else download it to a tablet with a good screen size.

honestly I don't really mind readers, I remember back when you had to download everything on irc with XDCC, when readers started being common it was far more convenient reading manga and I more or less stopped using irc. convenience is going to win over anything else every time more or less
these days if I want it on my pc I just rip them like I do for the stuff I use for translation. hakuneko rips several places, I use kobo/calibre/dedrm to rip volumes, and scripts for the rest that the other two don't work on
