I agree with this. Cel animation just feels better. Anime going digital is a forerunner what the zoomers are calling slop nowadays. Come to think of it, a lot of anime these days seems pretty sloppy too

I weirdly don't mind a lot of early CGI. As dated and goofy as it looks. Because it kind of has this vibe that it's a new technology that they're really experimenting with and learning the tricks to it rather than just a cheap short cut. And that's kind of the sad part. Because CGI really should have only improved yet somehow it only got worse.

Do yourself a favor and watch the DVD version.

Honestly I would just say staff that believe in their projects rather than just doing it for a paycheck. I can list a lot of series that I felt they were doing it because somebody or the director had a clear passion for the project. A lot of times it's just slap for money or because they have the IP that they need to continue to deliver.
Could also be a lack of talented people. For some reason I find a lot of script writers are not as good as they used to be. And the script is really the core of the actual anime itself. The script writer and composition is definitely two of the most important jobs, however, I feel even if you have poor composition as long as the story is tight and concise are you generally get a good overall product

It's a buzzword that normalfags that can't articulate their thoughts use, because if they realized how "soulless", hollow, and plastic the retro anime they constantly praise is versus some of the anime we've gotten over the last decade like sangatsu no lion they would be ashamed to post here and actually lurk for 2 years like they're supposed to. Ordinary seasonal anime has deeper narratives, more diversified and complex aesthetics, and far better animation than even OVAs of the past and that's a fact. You've just been avoiding everything even half decent. This board is so boring now.
