There's a lot of cases where the manga is better than the anime, but what about the opposite? How many times is the anime better than the manga? Look at KyoAni saving the garbage that was the K-ON! manga. Same thing happened with Pon no Michi, they took one of the worst manga ever made and made it almost watchable.

Well in this case it's because the anime and the manga were made at the same time. Usually to sell to people without DVD players, or for busy salarymen to read on the train
It's actually quite common to have a manga made alongside an original anime. DIY has one, Shuumatsu Train has one, even Gurren Lagann has one too

One of the very few cases I know
I read the manga after watching it just to see the difference and even besides having a really bad TL, it was just noticably more amateurish (understandable as it was the mangaka's first serialization)
The anime basically took 90% of the meat of the manga, rearranged a lot of stuff, added some content here and there, adjusted some scenes (up to changing which characters a scene happened to) and in the end made a much better story out of it, much more coherent.
Masterwork of adaption I'd say.
Also adding in Guu's movements and voice was a huge bonus.

Recently read the Interspecies Reviewers manga and the anime is better. The manga is actually more censored than the anime.
Hope it gets a 2nd season, but I doubt it. There's enough manga content for it though.
