In all fairness, while I personally dislike these, I feel it's a narrative thing. Call it 'decency standards' or whatever, but I think you generally cannot have scenes (in a story) where a female fighter gets her ass kicked by a male opponent.
Similarly, you can't have a racist/misogynist/whatever villain be depicted as an ultrachad, the zeitgeist means you HAVE to make him a laughing-stock.
Now, this might change in the years to come (personally I always try to make villains like that as sympathetic as possible, to sow doubt) but this is probably how it's been since WWII.

Heroi balanced the woke with some horrifically evil behavior from Revy, the star of the series. And from many of the rest of the female warriors too. Eda is the other nightmarish character and the rest of the slayer girls are no slouches when it comes to killing. Much to the benefit of the series, it avoids a lot of woke. The only other show I recall that portrayed diversity in such a chill way was Downtown from MTV. It's worth a watch while YouTube still hosts it, if you all haven't seen it. However unrealistic such friend groups might be in real life, both shows portray it as nothing to write home about as opposed to fetishizing it or finger wagging about it. The only real mistake BL makes is not developing its characters enough.

He blew himself up with a grenade to try to stop an overwhelming monster, and once he was rebuilt, he would stop at nothing at all to fight the Pillar Men. Even when it seemed like all hope was lost and that Kars had won, he followed Joseph to the very end, saving his life multiple times.

He's probably one of the best depicted Nazis in pop culture, because he's neither sanitized nor a throwaway charicature, he's wicked Hitlerian ideologue and kind of an asshole who's flawed, yet also very capable and legitimately heroic.
There's not a lot of media which has Nazi characters who are as entertaining or nuanced, and the nuance says a lot, because he's really a very ridiculous and larger than life character.
