When it’s bad its bad but when it’s good I love it, but it sucks when its regarded as bad just because of the very fact that’s its a harem or isekai show without further thought. Has anyone had this experience?

There are good elements and bad in any genre, and if I had to guess you're mostly a romancefag, which doesn't have much to do with generic isekai settings and tropes

This is how I feel about modern anime in general desu, no matter the gender. Modern fans either self-insert or have parasocial relationships with the characters, which tends to make them rather act loopy when characters do bad things rather than y'know, treat them as fictional characters and just get invested in the story. I end up distancing from the fandom a lot as a result(save from a few like minded individuals). Modern fandom kinda sucks.

Yeah, sometimes the self inserting really gets to be a pain in the ass since they don't really give a shit about character or plot and take things that are meant to be personal flaws of the character as insults or unreliable narration as straightforward and shallow.

Shows like Toaru Index and Konosuba have harems, they're still good and are mostly about other things.

He might be classed as such in an old anime definition of harem, where a hundred girls show romantic interest in the protagonist but only the first girl matters, like for example Love Hina.
Subaru is pined by Rem and Beatrice and Petra, and he wants Emilia, but would also go for Rem, and so on.
It is however rather farfetched, and I wouldn't really consider it a harem series. Actual harem series where the protag gets all (or at least most) the girls exist since many years, perhaps even decades now, so standing by old trope examples isn't necessary anymore.

First off, I don't even consider that to be a 'harem' proper. But second, if you don't actually plan to commit to the harem bit, why bother with it in the first place? I'd be fine if a mangaka/author just wanted to pad his cast out with pretty girls because that's what sells. But don't bother having them all fall in love with the MC just for nothing to come of it.

It's why I dropped Eminence in Shadow. MC's got 12-odd girls vying for his dick, but he's genuinely too busy playing le chunni faggot (actual).
