How far did the anime go with the war?
Recent events in the manga I can recall:
- Lelei shows off that she can actually open GATEs herself and sends Itami through a small one she made where he almost gets gotten by a facehugger
- Chinese conspire with the exiled prince (not the warmonger one) to kidnap Lelei and in the midst of that triggers riots on the JP side of the gate
- The GATE starts becoming unstable (Lelei warned they needed to open and close it every few years to keep the link) and with the Empire subjugation still incomplete the JSDF orders a full retreat back to Japan leaving the princess woman and her city under siege from warmonger prince who turns up with a surprise army
- Evil Rabbit woman that both hates but follows warmonger prince spreads some kind of mutation or sleeper agents in the main town near the gate causing kids and other randoms to transform into abominations that start wrecking the place, especially since JSDF pulled out
- Another GATE opens in the JSDF star fort and Xenomorphs or something start coming out. Last chapter I read they were trying to hold them off while getting the recovered Leile to try and close it
