None of them ruined the magical girl genre. They all held a different type of greatness. What you refer to as the genre’s ruination was caused by people attempting to copy their greatness without any of the original soul and intent.
The magical girl genre is one that builds on all that came before with each new story, however in order to properly create a new story in the genre you must understand your predecessor and add something of your own.
Magical girls were not ruined by combat, horror, deconstruction, or yuri. They were ruined by fear. The fear of people so afraid to be seen that they refused to place even the smallest sliver of themselves into their work, instead merely copying what came before. But you cannot be a magical girl if your heart is ruled by fear. You must be brave enough to be yourself. That’s what it means to be a magical girl.
