Nichijou is basically the epitome of Japanese "humor" where they substitute characters dancing or making shocked faces in place of being actually funny instead of a genuinely funny series like Akiba's Trip or something.

Most people who dont find nichijou great were people who dropped it a few episodes in. They intentionally made the first few episodes the weakest to filter people from the actual good parts of the show, which is everything after the first third, or so. After the intro, the comedy, animation, characters, etc. All get better

I love nichijou and rewatched it every year since release, but i think its "comedy" fucking sucks, never laughed out loud even once. I watch it for the comfy slice of life element.
