you read the vn and then watch the supposed movie to see the characters in motion. that's the plan.
is animation going to be bad? unlikely. so, what the fuck are you talking about?

About Ufotable only caring about flashy fights and neglecting everything else. They are the type to skip character interactions, mood setting scenes and important dialogues in favor of another 5 minutes of fight scenes.
It doesn't matter that I already read the novel. I don't want them ruining something I like. Have you never hated a bad adaptation of something you enjoyed? I'm talking about this sort of thing.

Could be better but could be worse. I would take Tomonori Sudou over Takahiro Miura anytime i guess. The latter fucking destroyed UBW and the worst thing is animeonlies faggots praised it like it was a fucking masterpiece. HF as an adaptation is kind of hit or miss depending on which part but once again I don't expect Ufotable to do a good work on Mahoyo. They made a miracle with KnK but it was a product of a forgotten era, nearly impossible to make nowadays.

Shirou is just not the same character as he was originally in the VN. He is as bad as Deen Shirou. The pacing is atrocious; they tried to make it action-packed, sacrificing every character development and inner monologue. UBW had great fights, yes, but the anime only focused on them, forgetting the rest.

Sure. VN Shirou = thanks to the highly introspective narrative (internal monologue) of the VN Shirou is a psychologically tormented tragic hero trying to fulfill his adoptive father's ideal and most of his risky decisions are justified by his internal conflict of being a burden + trauma from his past + imposter syndrome. His relationship with Archer is just way more complex too because the VN take time to explain Archer as a character while the anime don't.

Ufotable UBW Shirou = his character is only portrayed through dialogue and fight making him impulsive, irrational and even fucking dumb sometimes. Since we don't have his inner monologue the whole parallel between him and Archer compared to the VN is just bland. Archer also feel like a fucking douchebag in the anime, i would say even like an antagonist, even though he is supposed to be way more nuanced in the VN. i'm sure any readers have a whole different appreciation of him compared to animeonlies

Well yeah, that's why i said KnK anime was product of a now forgotten era. Current gen of animators and staff in general just don't know how to create a good Type-Moon style urban fantasy setting anymore. Maybe because they were kids or just not born during these times. Tsukihime/Mahoyo/Kara no Kyoukai and even some parts of FSN have this very specific mood of "Shindenki", dunno how to translate it, which is seen as old-fashioned and cheesy nowadays i guess? even though it's peak fiction

I'm not sure anon. If we talk about stucture they are mostly similar. VNs are just light novels with visuals and music. I mean some of them don't even have voice acting. In a LN you only have the text and nothing more to help you for the adaptation while a VN give you the characters design, their environment (can be places, how the setting looks like and feels like) and sometimes even how characters sound like thanks to VA. So it should be easier to adapt because it's spoonfeeding you a lot ot content, don't you think?

Are we talking about the OG or the remake? Because for the OG you just go the manga way. You adapt Arc route with some elements from Ciel mixed into it. The manga is a great near side adaptation but i didn't read the remake and from what i've heard they gave Ciel a whole new route with so many new content so i guess it's not that easy anymore

There are a few dedicated autists who created a whole ufotable hate bandwagon despite them making easily the best Type-Moon adaptations. Either due to UBW or HF, neither of which were perfect but some people lock on to the worst aspects of those as if they ruin the whole thing and never appreciate everything they do well.

Unfortunately, yeah, but it's kind of a shame since as far as anime designs go, they (and most TM characters in general from before Extra) would be super easy to adapt to live action since they're really grounded in an aesthetic sense, like, they dress relatively normally, they have realistic bodies, they don't have crazy FF10 Seymour hair, etc.

Live action TM would be far easier to do than fucking One Piece, that's for sure.

Nothing to ruin because Mahoyo isn't that good other than having a fantastic presentation for a VN and a good soundtrack. It has some highs but a huge portion of the VN is just boring filler that people defend with "vibes"

you can't ruin the story or the characters for me if i've already read the source material.
if the characters get mischaracterized it's one thing. but if the movies simply convey less information, then i'll just fill in the gaps with my existing knowledge and interpretations.
still, Soujuurou is an easy character to fuck up with, i'll admit.
