Nothing. It's actually better. No talk no jutsu. No power of friendship. No dindu nuffin. Unlike Sasuke and Naruto, Bakugou and Deku relationship has justification and development. Unlike Naruto, Deku doesn't rely on his lineage to be a hero (and his mother is not just a corpse). Most characters don't rely on tragic flashbacks. Unlike Jiraiya, All Might doesn't need to die to be prove a point. Unlike that genocidal Itachi, Endeavor doesn't become a martyr. And unlike Naruto, Deku's actions influence a better world (where rankings and powers are not that important anymore, people are) and not the maintenance of the status quo with the MC becoming the Hokage at the end.

Less charismatic MC, less interesting setting, less compelling rivalry, boring side characters, no iconic villains, no stakes, no creative powers.

I think I agree with this, the actual content of MHA is fine, nothing amazing but it's a passable story with good art. The art is probably the strongest aspect of the series.
But for some reason the fanbase is deranged. You have the people you mentioned, like the Yaoi shippers and the moral police, but recently with the series ending you also have this weird little ideological war that's broken out over whether Deku is a pathetic cuck who works at McDonalds or if he's a pussy slaying chad who fucked the Invisible girl. People get way too invested in that shit to an embarrassing degree. And it's made interacting with the series' fanbase even more insufferable than it already was.

That's Hori's own damn fault for making the most beta bitch shounen MC alive and being such a goddamn hack he can't write a believable relationship between any of his pet male characters and women.

I got through the first arc of MHA and the world just didn't click with me like Naruto did. It's fine, but a bit too close to real life. Naruto had a very unique aesthetic I always liked. The ninja tools and giant scrolls. The fact that everyone travels on foot. Villages still use carrier birds to send mail to each other. They use Medical Ninjutsu in lieu of real life practice. Maybe I'm just old fashioned, idk. I wasn't a fan of how Boruto came around with the modern day skyscrapers and tech.

I don't think Naruto tried to push much of a social commentary in the middle that it completely ignored to the points the hero at the end are just rewarded by becoming all the "evil corrupted system" we were supposed to question in the middle of the story.

MHA is the only seroes om which the people who like it or hate it are equally terrible and make conversing with the series at all a chore because both sides are obessed with the idea of headcanon and characterfaggiing that they ignore what's written in the story itself. The OFA reveal is the best example I can think where people flat out projected their own headcanon onto the source of material and were pissed off that they didn't get what they wanted and blame the "execution" of the story beats instead.

For starters aesthetic and atmosphere is one, I think you'll be more interested in reading a story about a ninja world with the main setting being a village hidden in a forest over a modern/sci-fi super hero world with the main setting being downtown tokyo.
