Honestly, not really, especially with the quality drop around s2e13/14. The manga was better, especially Nekokourage, I don't know why some decisions were made in the anime like splitting the frog scene, not giving it Jishis theme and instead having silence, not giving us the proper one piece apron in the bath episode, general drop in quality, Jinshis armor looking like cosplay made from plastic, shaking .jpg Jinshi, the season 2 cour 2 opening, etc.

It's not bad, just disappointing from the second half on and can't compare to season 1 in my opinion. Maybe it's just the wait that makes me say that.

Nah, the 3rd and 4th OP's sucked and there was a fairly noticeable dip in quality in the latter half of episodes.

+ It was clear that after they passed the neko version of the manga they didn't really know how to direct/structure the scenes well.

+ The scene with Loulan dancing with a full vocal song backing her as she got shot felt like a really desperate attempt to copy Maomao's dance on the wall, would've been better if she just laughed maniacally and that was it.

I liked Shisui character the most in the whole series.

Also the show has the most boring romantic plot I've ever seen in an anime. Yet I enjoy mysteries and conspiracies. It'll stay for the third season.

Not really. I enjoyed the smaller individual mysteries more than the overarching plot they set up. The idea of there being a rot in the palace due to the previous emperor's actions was interesting, but I'd have preferred it if they'd kept it on a more abstract level instead of tying it all into one clear villain.

I read the LN and Maomao has as much emotion as a brick wall. It barely gets better even after 10 volumes. At this point I support Maomao rejecting Jinshi so he could end up with some side character instead.
