i read up until uhhh want to say volume 18 (had to check my bookcase)
i have physical copies starting from 16 to 22 (must've went on a break since 24 is coming now this year - i think i might have read an email stating the author was going on a break). prior, i just downloaded the pdf/scans.
i only stopped because fatigue and was getting a bit bored but they were all good reads - i read nothing but kino as it was part of my way to improve jp literacy
should get back to reading them all, since am this invested after reading pretty much 18 volumes, only a few left to catch up and lines up to 24.

I liked 2017 but I think the series could also benefit from each new adaptation being by a different studio. If there's a new adaptation hopefully they do a better job choosing stories and don't waste episodes on repeats.

The 2017 anime was just so bland compared to the Nakamura direcred anime. They need to get a director with a strong vision if they want to do another adaptation. Also don't retread chapters that have already been adapted this time.

Why did the original anime have those gay horizontal lines over the screen? Made it really hard to watch.

If they somehow greenlit a Gakuen Kino anime I'm going to persuade myself to a quick death.

Don't really care about the stories, but the direction is critical, yeah. The only story that stood out in the new adaptation was the sheep one, compared to the 2003 adaptaion where even mundane stories like The Sad Land were engaging.
