Why is it so rare and refreshing for an isekai to progress its developments and introduce its concepts slowly? For the first time, a show isn't airdropping all of its important characters and overarching plots on the MC in the first episode. This could still be slop, but so far I'm liking it just for that.

They skipped over the MC taking a swim in the ocean and getting dabbed on by fish that could screw with his magic, that's the reason he knew magic negation was a thing and immediately jumped to that being what the behemoth did. Probably won't be super relevant, but there was at least one mention later of him wanting to go back and fight them again at some point.

Agreed, that would have been much better. A form like that having the only way to kill it is to destroy it's mana crystal or knock it over after it depletes its mana so it can't gather more. Any parts of it's "body" that get broken off can just become more projectiles.

Tbh didn't pay much attention since nothing all that important happens early, I can't remember if the bird did that in the book, but he definitely got dabbed on by some fish doing the same thing. So we've so far been deprived of the fishening, the double bird ambush, a fight with a bigger boar that wasn't all that interesting, and, thankfully, him trying to grow rice.

I think they glossed over it a little, but Ryo sort of pretended to be chanting when he was casting spells for a while. He just sort of half assed it more and more as they went until he finally stopped, so by the time Abel could actually tell for certain it would be too late. Also they hadn't interacted long enough to notice anything weird about his aging either, so prior to them leaving he probably just thought he was a strong hermit. Also I just remembered, I'm pretty sure Ryo has a habit of training his magic control by autisticly making ice minitures of famous buildings unless I'm confusing it with something else.

He was killing monsters for 20 years. If he bothered to collect the magic stones and other parts of the monsters, he could fill his barn with them (they should be in the monster manual that he owns). But he can't buy anything with them in the wilderness, so they are mostly worthless. But given Ryo's chuuni tendencies I had expected to see some giant cobra fangs mounted on a wall or a carved head sized magic stone used as a candle holder or something similar.
