They don't even really like anime, they just affect intellectual interests in the hopes other people think they are smart and interesting. I had a phase in my late teens/early twenties where I was into CGDCT and Precure/Aikatsu/Pripara but I grew out of it. Now I watch pretty much everything that has both males and females in it and isn't either yuri or yaoi. Still like the masterpieces (the anime that's considered pretentious to like) btw.

Precure's formula is very easy to enjoy and Aikatsu season 1 is fucking magic and everybody should give it a chance, you probably won't give a damn in the first five episodes but it keeps getting better. Just watch one episode every few days to not exhaust the formula marathoning.
