What makes anime shit on every western media tried to out in the last few years is that they aren't written with the diversity, victim olympic checklist that western media loves.

Anime was naturally diverse before western media even tried to be.

It’s not female leads but we need more braincrack/machiavellian stories. Think Code Gayass, Death Note, LOTGH, Kaiji, Monster. This way you can have female characters without ‘girls can fight too! xD’ or female written as male + more focus on adult characters (you can’t make a battle shonen focus on retired truck driver).

I think nowadays producers are only funding isekai, battle shonen and gookslop like Solo Levelling without considering alternative genres. Which is weird considering the series I listed have strong followings for the most part.

Ironically, anime has way more strong female characters than western media ever did. A real misogynist would look at female characters like Nausicaa or Shiki and complain about them being unrealistic and cringe.

Women in western media however tend to be whores with no initiative, self awareness or self-restraint (always having sex with anybody because free love and awkwardly lashing out because women need to speak up) lacking inner strength. The ‘strong’ ones also tend to come off as arrogant bossgirls/lesbians showing off their skills while their male peers do the same things as them without being nearly as cocky about it.
