The ninjas were the ones who were going to attack Kyuubi first because they wanted its power, it only defended itself.

Madara controlled Kyuubi to fight Hashirama, many ninjas attacked it before because of their ambitions and then Hashirama sealed Kyuubi, took his freedom and he was sealed for generations without having done anything to deserve it.

Then many generations later Obito also controlled the Kyuubi to attack the village and when the Kyuubi regained its senses Minato was trying to seal it again, taking his freedom and Kyuubi tried to defend himself.

Kyuubi was 100% right, his hatred is 100% justified and if he destroyed the village it would be 100% deserved, but Kyuubi actually didn't even attack the village, it was just obito who controlled it.
