That was it bros thanks to everyone that followed the series with me, Blame! is one of my favorite manga and would be really hard for KoS to measure it up to it and it didnt, it is not bad obviously but Blame! is a masterpiece but Knights have better characters as a positive
What are your thoughts on it specialy on the art?
For our next storytime i will keep the tradition of doing the lesser work of a mangaka but first have a break for cool it down but come again to read planetes next month

After finally reading it I can see that I enjoyed this entire journey. It was a bleak sci-fi that managed to weave an interesting narrative. Many close calls happened but seeing the characters overcome them was engaging. As the other anons stated its strongest highlight was its characters. I went from not knowing them to recognizing even the background characters by the end. And rooting for them during the last battle.
As for the art, it's great. I don't know why I kept seeing complaints about it all these years. I get it's mostly people wanting more Blame! but I think it's silly to dismiss the artistic merits of KoS for a reason like that. My only complaint is the space fight scenes. They are very hard to follow.

I'm a fan of the artstyle personally. I think the lighter more intricate detailing really sells the charm of the environments inside sidonia, and it contrasts well with the wide swaths of black and halftone used for the space scenes.
The story has a lot more lighthearted moments than his previous works so I think it ended up suiting the mood much better.

Thanks for posting OP. I love Nihei's work. KoS's strengths are all things that I would say were weaknesses in Blame!, while still maintaining a cool sci-fi setting. I think the art style really comes into its own about a third of the way in. I think the start has pretty confusing action and the designs are a bit samey, but that's pretty much all gone by the time Tsumigi gets introduced. Also, I think both Nihei's white heavy art style is still pretty unusual compared to the industry as a whole. So both his early work and current stuff has distinct flair. He's really a one of a kind artist.

As I mentioned yesterday >>280532287, it had its ebbs and flows. The artwork for combat got a lot clearer as they started having more long range duels, as the chaos of gauna combat was hard to follow. Adding recovery safety pods and having gardes that could recover them drastically cut down on the amount of chaff characters, which helps when there's some sameface in the cast

I prefer the art in Blame!. The man must've hated inking, since he almost stopped doing it at some point through Sidonia. Just scroll up the thread and you'll see very few pages with lots of black on them - compare that to Blame!, or even early Sidonia. I'm really happy he's using blacks again in Tower Dungeon, maybe because he's doing it digital so "inking" pages is extremely simple?

With that said, I think he's vastly better in Sidonia on a technical level than in Blame!. His style changed for the worse but his skill didn't regress. And I get it, especially looking at TD, it's obvious drawing a page of TD must take like a tenth of the time it would take to draw a page of Blame!.

Thanks OP. I prefer the art in Blame! and Biomega, but the art in Sidonia isn't bad and just doesn't suit my tastes as well. Sidonia is probably still Nihei's second best work. It's nice to have more recurring characters, but I suppose that's just a consequence of actually having a home base and not just being about wandering around like his earlier manga.
