I'm tired of this shit getting popular just because it looks good. Frieren was shit story wise. The only reason anyone liked it was because the production quality was unreasonably high for something of that caliber.

any shonen slop will always be shonen slop. The only solution is to not focus on magic for fighting cause it's pretty much always gonna be generic light show. At best you can do shit like what say hxh or some others do where they have restrictions and shit on their magics that characters have to play around. That's vastly more interesting.
