Half-chapters destroyed the pacing. Instead of one long coherent chapter that advances the story, we get two short disjointed chapters with a mandatory hype moment at the end of every chapter, that leads to nothing and usually gets reversed in the beginning of the next chapter.

That, but also it feels like we skipped too much to get to the current point. Sticking Lynn in the hyperbolic time chamber and making her sit out for so long really detached me from her character. She's a totally different person now and we only really saw glimpses into her growth.
Unfortunately, everything involving the "true timeline," Attila, and soul memory feels sloppy and kind of needless. Some of the individual fights were good, but I haven't really been feeling it as much in recent chapters. I liked all of the characters involved for the most part, but I think Hildebrand's team versus Attila's team was probably one of the weaker matches overall.

People suck so hard as gauging quality. The guilty dipped forever ago when the main cast and plot got sidelined for a bunch of irrelevant side character battles. It just took your plebeian brains a while to get past the rush of the actually good early chapters.

I'd say that it still had enjoyable fights in the latter half, but the lack of focus on the original core cast has always been troubling. The ensemble cast is fun, but scrambled, and the split focus between the KR13 group, Arabian folks, and Beowulf's posse and their dynamics unfortunately have detracted from the central plot. The Nips aren't as bad because they're treated more so as "foreign others" whose presence is more of an anomaly.
Good fights don't necessarily make for a compelling story on their own, and the comedy is pass-or-fail much of the time. It's actually a shame to see how much Lynn's trio (quintet?) has been left to languish. Lynn's a whole different character, Dietrich has been a one-note joke for a while, and Lyng/Lofn largely became cheerleaders. At least Siegfried got some decent play a bit back.

I think what really hurt the manga more than the half chapters is the fact that it didn't matter if the team win or lose, since they just get absorbed by the other team. Without tension it's kind of hard to care about the outcome of the battles. At least now this part is over.
