>>280570137 (OP)These complains will forever keep coming and people are sick of them but I honestly think the shit this manga gets is completely justified. I have no idea how anyone could be happy with the trajectory of Watamote where Tomoko is so often side-lined for people I just don't give a fuck about.
I also think it's strange that so often when you complain about this many people mock you for not growing up as Tomoko has and that you just want it to be miserable, I don't see why anyone would want series to abbandon everything they loved about it. I think people always overstated how "depressing" Watamote was. Tomoko already had Yuu-chan and her cousin, all they had to do was built up on those relationships, they were far more compelling than the new characters. It was funny in a way most series weren't, it was unique and I believe you could have progressed with it while staying loyal to what Watamote is.
Tomoko also just isn't that interesting anymore, the only thing I like is that she grew to not hate people around her but I still feel like it wasn't done in a satisyfing way, you can say it was gradual and maybe natural, but such a huge part of her character should feel more meaningful, it just feels like they flanderized Tomoko, took away her complex insecurities and replaced it all with just Tomoko making a lot of sex jokes.
I also think there's nothing wrong with liking melancholic or depressing art, you might argue some people used Watamote to wallow in their self-made misery in the same way Tomoko did, but I do think there was more to classic Watamote than that. It was also about the real struggles of not being able to connect with social anxiety, there were moments when even when Tomoko wasn't stupid she still failed to connect. I think I'm rambling now. I love everything about the classic Watamote and the anime adaptation is superb (Tomoko has been a little moe-fied but it's not a big deal) and current Watamote just feels like a zombie.
