Shinozaki is also wish fulfillment for me. My sister is a massive slut and kind of insufferable. But that's completely unrelated; I'm an autistic sperg who likes to pretend I'm normal even though I'm obviously more cringe than the actual nerds, and I've always wanted to be a beautiful school girl with a nerdy lesbian girlfriend who isn't as insecure as me and make out with her and be cute or something.

Shame the manga switched from hardcore cringe comedy to vaguely nationalistic otaku culture glazing halfway through. I enjoy both, but the former was way funnier.

I dunno maybe I'm working it up in my head, but I recall there being a lot of chapters towards the end that were primarily just about "on this glorious day, we otaku persevere" or shinozaki going "wow, I thought I had it rough, but these otaku are so sugoi and never give up." Not that there's really anything wrong with that, I enjoy the optimism and it's still a good series, I just feel like the tone changed a bit compared to the earlier chapters which were mostly just about shinozaki being an utter idiot.
