Ironic, because that's exactly what manga and anime already are.
Let's face it: only because anime many Westerners outside of the US in the 2000s even realized that Japan isn't just another China and in general we like them because of anime. Most here know about Japan's flaws, but we will still give them the benefit of doubt.
Furthermore, Anime has successfully normalized japanese culture to some degree amongst certain westerners: look at Japan in american media before anime became big: Samurai, Ninja, muh honour time for hara kiri, WWI, basically still live like in the feudal time in the modern day. Anime should them as school girls/boys just having normal modern lifes while also featuring Japanese cultural things in a casula way.
